Evidence shows that pupils grow intellectually at different rates as well as having different educational backgrounds. These two factors are important in placing pupils in the level that will challenge, yet not overwhelm them. Our objective is a measure of mastery by the pupils. The placement in levels pertains primarily to Arithmetic, Reading, and English.
St. Scholastica HSC Academy is structured such that pupils are placed in multi-level classrooms. Classrooms are usually grouped into these levels: Kindergarten, Grade 1, Grades 2 and 3, Grades 4 and 5, Grades 6 - 8.
The high school participates together in one unit.
This structure achieves the best of two worlds: the one-room schoolhouse, and graduated classroom divisions.
